Kids Day Event
May 20, 2014
For over two hours on Sunday, May 18, Brooklyn kids set aside their simulated video games for an opportunity to play tennis, have fun, win prizes and meet world-ranked tennis great Dinara Safina. A former world #1 tennis player, Russian-born Safina’s accomplishments include winning the women’s doubles at the 2007 US Open and Olympic silver in women’s singles at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Dinara enjoyed meeting the kids, signing autographs and posing for pictures with her fans.
Calling the festival “an ace move,” Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams has embraced the idea of partnering with MatchPoint NYC and promoting healthy activities for the residents of the Borough. “I’m proud to partner with MatchPoint in bringing free recreational opportunities to our young people in Brooklyn,” says BP Adams adding, “ healthy bodies lead to healthy minds and souls as well. “All this is part of the foundation that makes up a great Brooklynite. Kudos to MatchPoint for helping to grow the sport of tennis in our borough.”
