MatchPoint NYC Swim Team Competes In Florida Speedo Championships

Dear Parents and Swimmers,

From December 9th to the 12th, our favorite swim team escaped the chilly air of Brooklyn and took in the warm Florida sun. They traveled to the Fort Lauderdale area for the 31st Annual Speedo Championships! It was an interesting experience for our coaches and swimmers to travel so far out of state for a competition. However, they set out to make it a memorable one. The Speedo Championship featured 80 different swim teams and about 1000 swimmers. Out of 80 teams, our swimmers placed 21st by combined score! Only the top 10 teams made the Finals, but Coach Konstantin is still extremely proud of his team’s performance, how they acclimated to a change of scenery, and how they kept their focus while in sunny Florida. Swimming against the country’s fastest swimmers gave the team confidence and is only motivating them to do better at the next competition.

We want to extend a special congratulations to Martyna Kaps, who secured 3rd place in individual combined points scored! This is a very impressive feat considering the total number of swimmers who participated at the 2021 Speedo Championship. Our team also broke three MatchPoint NYC Swim Team records at the competition. Great job, everyone!

Our Coaches want to extend a special “thank you” to the parents for helping organize travel, hotels, car rentals, and working with the team during this competition. This trip could not have happened without you! Once again, congratulations to our swim team for making our coaches and community so proud – and doing it in unfamiliar territory.
